Life is Like a Chocolate-Covered Pretzel

photo of a package of chocolate covered pretzelsSorry folks, today I'm in a random mood. Maybe it was inhaling all the toxic fumes at the discount tire place and then the car repair place this morning when I shelled out several hundred dollars on car maintenance.

Yesterday I got a lung full of compost, apparently, when I prepped and planted my new square-foot-garden in the back yard. I'm so looking forward to the tiny, sweet cherry tomatoes fresh of the vine.

Back to the topic of the day, however. Chocolate-covered pretzels. I found these at my local Whole Foods Market, and they are simply maahvelous.

Life is a series of complex roundabout paths and double-backs, crisscrossing with people who are meant to be in our lives, and those whose lives are meant only to intersect with ours for a singular moment in time.  Add a little salt, representative of tears, for flavor, and top it all off with a nice dark coating of God's grace, and there you have a life like mine.

Busy-ness of New Ministry

The past few months have been extraordinarily busy. Traveling, attending conferences, and jump-starting my career as a home environmental consultant has left me little time to reflect quietly among the chaos of busy-ness. Not that I'm complaining about work that actually pays.

God has a funny way of dumping us right in the middle of the ministry He's called us to, and when He opens the floodgates, it's hard not to be completely overwhelmed. There is a feeling of sadness over neglecting the novel even as I make new plans, gain new clients and really connect with people who need the kind of compassionate encouragement and advice only I (with all my past history of chronic illness) can give.

I am a validator and an encourager. I stand up and champion the cause of those who are too weak to stand up for themselves. I confirm that people are not crazy, and I give them back the power to change their environment and release them from the bondage of ignorance by making visible that which was once invisible.

Yesterday God heard my prayers to find a kindred spirit who believes as I believe in spiritual matters as well as my professional matters. It was so refreshing to find a client who really gets what I do, and supports me wholeheartedly, without religious fear or condemnation.

I pray for continued progress in all fronts: personal, spiritual, career, and I do pray that the Lord will grant me an opportunity to share my novel with the world, in His time, according to His plan.

So for now, the novel is still biding her time. I'll be attending a writing conference next week in Houston, so perhaps she will get some of the attention and TLC she deserves.
